Rebedding Chainplates & Fittings
What a great site. As a new sailor the info on this site is fantastic. I was wondering if anybody had an opinion on using Geo Cel Proflex sealant for bedding fittings etc? On the site they call it a tripolymer. I ask because I have access to this cheap compare to the $30. West Marine 3M 101.
Looks like it would do the job fairly nicely, but I would reserve it for above waterline applications only. Just don't use it with acrylic (plexiglass) as it is probably going to attack it, since it has a warning about that in the PDF for it.
However, butyl rubber tape, which is available at most glass repair shops, is a better material for chainplates IMHO.
