Volvo MD7A Missing reverse gear dipstick

I have a 1978 Albin Vega powered by a Volvo MD7A. I removed the reverse gear oil filler bolt to find No dipstick! Has anyone else had this experience?
Could the dipstick have slipped down into the transmission?

Yes. we had the same engine. The dipstick was that filler bolt! You will be able to pull it apart or possible a magnetic flexible stick. I cant remember if it was iron or brass??
