Moving Scupper Drains to Above Waterline
Eventually, like maybe next year, I'll have to replace the through hulls for my cockpit scupper drains. Right now they are located P/S below water line. My sink drain also drains into the cockpit drain through hulls.
I currently have 6 thru-hulls that are below waterline; head water in-take, head sink drain, waste overboard, raw water for engine, and the two scupper drains. I'd like to minimize the number and have only the raw water intake and head intake below the waterline, and put everything else just at or slightly above the waterline.
I am not talking about eliminating the seacocks that go with each thru-hull and having a direct connection, just relocating the thru-hull/seacock assembly.
Any reason why not to do this?
Thanks.
