moving my depth sounder

I have just moved my depth sounder and extended the coaxial cable by 7 meters. The reading is way out (shoould read circa 4 metres and is reading 50 to 100 !) Is there something about selecting the right coaxial for depth sounders that I should know ? Does length matter !!??

Coax and coax length certainly matters, but a question first: Did you recalibrate your instrument after the move?

Hi and thanks for the reply - no I did not re-calibrate and I can't find any way to do this in the manual (yes, I have a DS45 manual). I can set keel offset and that's all.

Go to the Standard Horizon support page and post your question. They are very supportive of us old product users, and I'm sure they'll do their best to help you figure out the problem.

Good luck!
