Hey! He kept it for years in his basement....the least I could do was to honor the legacy by having it serve another tour of umm...duty. And $300 is $300...do you know how much beer that is?

Here's to me and all the others out there that are keeping the errrr 'frugal' sailboater stereotype alive!

Our Jabsco has worked fine for the last 3 seasons with no problems. No leaks, no cracking or deterioration at the mounts or pump attachment. I've seen much older looking units in charter boats that also worked fine (but I don't know what their maintenance or replacement schedule was). I think Jabsco gets a bad rep for the inexpensive build and price; but for the price they are good units that are not to be considered totally unreliable. Would I want a better unit if I were living aboard? Probably; but I would use the Jabsco and find out how long it lasted with regular use and determine if it was more cost effective to replace with the same first.

BTW Peggy Hall has a bit of a Bias; she holds royalty on the Raritan brand head deodorant/lubricant product...
