Anchor Chain Size Question

Generally, Is 3/8 anchor chain interchangable with 10mm chain?
just your typical French versus American question, Metric or US
We should lay a piece of 3/8 over his chain wheel and put it to rest,
Here in Panama we can't buy 10mm chain anywhere, and difficult in Florida too!
Thanks, Adrift and Askin'

Assuming you are talking about the same type of chain, 10mm will be slightly stronger than 3/8 inch.

Real issue is if you're using a windlass, as they have specific measure and format (HT for instance) So, they are not interchangeable. Check it out first.

U.S. and French chains have different dimensions of links and if you change Metric to Imperial you will have also to change the gypsy of the windlass to adapt it to the new chain standard.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
