Water heater tripping breaker

My Indel/Isotemp Basic 20 is tripping the AC breaker. And the water smells a little cooked. I'm guessing I have a bad heating element. The manual says these things have double overheat protection. Anyone have any experience in this area?

Also, I can't find a customer service number for them in the US. I've sent an email via the Indel Marine website, but have yet to get a response (from earlier today).

the element is a typical electric water heater element that you can in hardware or home improvment stores. less the 10 bucks too! some screw in.. some bolt in.

If water is hot, then looks like your heating element is doing the job. I'd suspect the temp regulator. Also, think about it: is it pouring water from the relief valve ? How long it takes to trip the breaker ? They have merged companies, check Welcome to Isotherm
