Euro-style connectors

As I go through the process of rewiring my boat to ABYC standards, I've got two pieces of equipment that have "Euro-style" connectors (where you screw down onto the wire to secure it) - my AquaSignal thru-deck plug, and my Borel Mfg nav light switch.

I'm wondering, should there be something crimped onto the end of the wires to plug into the "Euro-style" connector, or am I just supposed to strip the wire, twist the copper, and shove it in bare?

they do make solid pins that you either crimp or solder on to the wire just for this. people here will say crimp, personally if you have room for a loop i would say strip one inch, twist and fill with solder. then adhesive lined heat shrink leaving 1/2 inch out, check it monthly for corrosion and when it does if it does cut it off and do it again. this is better than just the stranded wire under the screw for corrosion reasons

If the eurostyle connectors have a flat plate between the screw and where the wire goes, you don't need to do anything at all. If there is no plate, and the screw digs into the wire directly, you'll probably want to solder the end of the wire or crimp a stud on to the end.
