Catalina Owners - Butyl Tape for "New" Style Windows?

Question for any Catalina owners out there. I have a 1988 Catalina 22 with the "new" style windows (plastic mounts directly to fiberglass / gel with screw holes on outside). Has anyone used butyl tape to seal these windows?

Everything is stripped from the boat and I'm planning to use 3M 101 to bed everything else back on the deck. However, many threads talk about the solvents in polysulfide sealants eating away at the plastic. I guess that leaves a silicon type sealant or maybe a 3M 4000 (polyether?) as the only other options.
