Dolphin charger vs Iota - cost

Hi All, I see people here recommend the Iota marine battery smart chargers, which are under $200 for a 45 amp version. What is so different about a Dolphin that makes it $807 for a 40 amp version?

Both are made for marine environment, both are about 40 amps, both are intelligent staged chargers.

Does the Dolphin have an advantage worth $600 more? Maybe it can charge more than 1 battery or mixed chemistry batteries? Sorry for the basic question but I am having trouble finding these functional details.

Mixed technology batteries

Also, if I got an AGM battery for the house and used a conventional flooded battery for starting, is a special charger needed because the batteries are different technology?

Don't mix battery chemistries. While you can get a charger that can handle mixed chemistry setups, the price is not worth it...it is far better and simpler overall to get all the same chemistry setup on your batteries IMHO.

Never used a Dolphin charger, so I can't say what advantages it has, if any.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Iota is not a marine charger

I have the 45 amp version and it is my understanding that it is not a marine charger and is not ignition protected. I am happy with mine so far.
