folding prop help

I have a maritec folding prop that I want to use. It is now disassembled. There is a 1/4" pin that attaches the blades to the hub and two holes in that pin and hub to retaine the pin. Is that pin held in with roll pins or cotter pins?
I am thinking roll pin but have no exp. with one of these props.

You might want to consider getting a diagram or instructions from the manufacturer. contact.gif

The pin is held in with two monel cotter pins. Martec strongly suggests not using stainless ones. Contact them to get the right ones. Same ones are used on the prop nut so get four.

Furthermore: Assembly onto the prop shaft is not quite as straight-forward as one might think. Contact Martec for installation instructions.

Be advised that Martec props, any folding or feathering prop, actually, can be... tempermental. We just had to send ours in for a refurb last winter because it had developed the "Martec blues."

Btw: A fellow club-member suggested giving all the surfaces that bear on one another a good coating of marine-grade lithium grease to prolong the time-between-refurb intervals. Says it's worked for him. I didn't see how it could hurt, so I went ahead and did that on ours.

It can't be said strongly enough- The Martec folders MUST have Monel cotter pins. Two to secure the pivot pin and one through each side into the middle of the barrel nut. Failure to use Monel pins can mean the loss of the propeller. Don't ask me how I know this to be true.
