Help water in gas tank

Maybe someone could help. We had a friend helping with the boat and now one of the 250 gal gas tank is about 1/4 to 1/2 full of water. How do we get it out. The boat is a 33 foot cruiser and is not able to be trailered. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You will have to either pump the tank dry through the deck fill or siphon the tank empty from the pickup tube. Then you can put the fuel water mix into another container, let it seperate and then capture the gas into yet another container through a water seperating funnel. Put this into tank or better yet, into your friends car. Add a stabilizer such as STARBRITE StarTron to your boat tank and refill. That should deal with any residual water.

Just to be clear, this is actually gasoline, and not diesel, right? The advice is right on for gasoline, but if it is diesel, I would go to a lot more care to get the water out before reusing it, and I would check and change fuel filters often to make sure that any residual in the tank didn't go through to the injector pump. Good luck with this.

As patrick said. Or, you can call a fuel polishing service, who might charge $400 for the visit. When you ask for their estimate--make sure they know how much water is involved.
