Cal 227 traveler move

I am looking to move the traveler either to the stern which is fairly simple or over the hatch. Has anyone moved it over the hatch with success? I am thinking of putting the traveler over the forward edge of the hatch to keep it out of the way as much as possible which means that the traveler is pretty far forward. The plan would be to have 3 bails - one straight up and the other two back to get some of the strain back to the middle of the boom. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
