dented mast

have a silver dollar sized dent in 30 foot mast. Will not pass seaworthiness surveyor inspection. Any ideas how this could be repaired?

You could get a reinforcing sleeve put around the mast at the site of the dent. The main reason it won't pass inspection is that the dent is likely a point for the mast to fail at.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Where is the dent, near the end? I used to straighten, and repair aluminum light poles. The make little hydraulic jacks about 1-1/2" high tha produce about 20,000 lbs of force. You put it inside between two blocks of wood and push the dent out.

If it is real close to the end you probably can do the same thing with 1/2" bolt of the right length and a coupling nut.
