Jacksonville FL Marine Services
I will be heading back down to our 1981 Stevens 47 late next week to begin tackling some major refit work.
First on the agenda is to totally rip out the ancient fridge/freezer and build a completely new system. I am going with dual Frigoboat units with keel coolers.
I also need to get our existing dodger and bimini top modified to a full cockpit enclosure and have some large sun shades made.
I also need some stainless steel fabrication and welding in order to have the stern pushpit extended up to the gates. I want all the railing/lifelines on the stern of the boat to be stainless steel as I plan to mount solar panels here. I also need to have one of our water tanks modified or a new stainless tank made.
I am also going to be installing a larger battery bank, battery monitor and a number of bits of new electronics and such plus my electrical systems needs some general repairs and cleaning up so I need a good marine electrical guru.
So.... REFERRALS! Who can refer me to some talent in the Jacksonville area for any and all of the above type skills. I need GOOD and CHEAP... or at least reasonable.
Terry, Feel free to contact me about you refit needs. I am a boat builder in St. Augustine, Scott 904-540-2291 or email@example.com
Maybe someone else will have a better suggestion but I don't know anywhere in Jacks that I would trust with this level/type of refit work on a good boat. Suggest St. Augustine on the San Sebstian Creek and the Oasis boatworks as your bet bet. They are capable of all you need done and we had a friend on a big Hunter who did a similar heavy refit and was quite pleased with their work.
Oasis Boatyard and Marina
Good luck...nice boat!!
Just as an aside...you may want to review these threads on Richard Kollmans (marine refrigeration guru) forum before settling on this as the right way to go.

A quote from him: "I believe Frigoboat has a design and quality control problems with their keel cooler and compressor system. It should not be necessary to replace evaporator assemblies because capillary tube is blocked or a keel cooler because of a leak.
