Thumbs down Hatch replacement

My Helms 27 deck house hatches have seen better days. Anybody have any suggestions as to the best replacements and where to look?

Everyone seems to rave about Bomar hatches these days..try to find a discount marine surplus store...craigslist or EBay if money is a bit tight....and see if you can figure out how the sizing works first..(inside diameter of hatch vs. outside diameter...etc....good luck!

I'm seriously considering giving Select Plastics a chance to rehab my 15 year old Lewmar Hatches. I think the advantage of re-hab vs replacement is the fact that you don't have to re-drill the deck for the new hatches.

I have no experience yet with Select Plactics (Select Plastics, LLC - Connecticut's Best Custom Fabricated Plastics and Marine Hatch Repair ), so if anyone can comment on their reputation / capabilities, I'd be very interested.

hatches

Thanks guys,

I think refurbishment is out. I let a sheet get wrapped around the forward one and it has suffered a little. Also, the plastic frames have suffred through 20 plus years of sun.

Would've thought as well as the Helms were built that metal frames would have been used. Oh well, that's the only fault I've found with the old girl.
