Painting a sail?

After unpacking a stowed (in the garage) mainsail i''ve noticed a rust type stain on two parts. I''m not sure what it is but it won''t come out with bleach, stain remover etc.
The sail is in good condition otherwise so i''ll be using it again, i''m hoping i can get it looking smart again by perhaps painting over the stained areas.

The stained areas are about the size of a dollar bill each. Does anyone know of anyway to deal with this? is their suitable paint for a sail?

Thanks,

Dan

Use Oxalic acid (Teak Cleaner) if the sail is white. Rinse well when finished.
