Wet/Dry Vacuum

I was trying to find a thread that mentioned a good wet/dry vacuum, but, no luck. At any rate, has anyone got a recommendation for a good one?

i have the little husky from home depot on my boat it works great, except sucking water from the bilge, it fills in like 2 seconds. it also will barely run on my 400 watt inverter, the batteries need to be 95 % charged, although this is not a problem with the vac.

I use a small Ridgid (4 gallon?) on the boat, it works for me but I wouldn't recommend it. It is LOUD, has a kinky hose, and doesn't shut off when it's almost full of liquid like it should, meaning water is blown out the exhaust which = mess. Will suck the chrome off a trailer hitch however

I also have a larger Ridgid which I would recommend, mine is +- 12 gallons I think, is still loud but much better otherwise. Has been totally abused for years, has sucked up many nasty things. Probably too big for the boat however.

I have a Rigid 4 or 5 gallon and it does fine. It will even blow the dinghy up in a couple of minutes.

A good one? That's hard to measure. Like scottyt, I have Home Depot's little vacuum on our boat. They also sell replacement bags and other accessories for it. It's good enough for me, for the price.

I have a 1.5 gallon Shop-Vac. I won't go offshore without it, as it is so much better than those useless "dust busters" I see screwed to bulkheads.

I keep it in the forepeak and I carry the "drywall" filter, because I am frequently sucking up fine sanding dust.

I have Dewalt handheld shopvac.

Runs off a rechargable 18V battery.

I can highly recommend it.
