Halyard Shackles

I have to replace the main and jib halyards on my ODay 28. I've decided to purchase pre-spliced halyards, but I'm not sure about the shackles. There are many different sizes with stated "working loads" or "breaking loads". What size wl or bl do I need for my boat?

some around here are not a fan of snap shackles, but you can use the crew shackles and not need to have them sliced in.

I would recommend getting 5/16" shackles for your boat. They are probably a bit over-sized, but that is generally a good thing. I'd recommend the wichard 5/16" captive screw-pin shackles.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
