Oh Joy refit 10/14/09

More fun lately. We're getting down to the bones and finding less issues than anticipated.

You can see how dry this old wood is.

Broken deck frame

The cockpit hangs on three rods per side, interesting...

Getting into the bridgedeck where the decking was soft. No rot underneath.

Starboard quarter

Port forward

Starboard forward

Bow sans bowsprit, sure looks strange...

The Rockwell Sonicrafter has been and will continue to be invaluable. BTW, the blades are fairly cheap at $44 per 3-pack.

He has a tape he plays over and over by some group called "Demolition Crew" or something like that..

"Go Simple...Go Large"

Relationships are everything to me..everything else in life are just tools to enhance them.

The purchase price of a boat is just the admittance fee to the dance...you still have to spend money on the girl...so court one with something going for her with pleasing and desirable character traits others desire as well... or you could find yourself in a disillusioned relationship contemplating an expensive divorce.

In no way belittling your efforts nor downplaying what you have taken on but this is starting to look less of a nightmare than you might have first imagined ???

Hard and dry is surely a whole heap better than soft and soggy.

Actually Andrew, it's looking pretty good. If I would've carried on the way it was, it wouldn't have. I caught her in time to avoid major rot. That first area I dug out is by far the worst of it.

My respect goes out to you, mate. I would have had a huge heap of firewood a long time ago.

I hope I get to see the final result.

Pretty admirable of you to save that boat Charlie... If I were nearby I'd be there helping you! I'd like to mention to others looking at your progress.. try to imagine the skills used and applied to create such a vessel! The carlins and blocking joints are tight as they were on day one.
Oh, I love wooden boats!
