Which paint for windlass

I'm in the process of rebuilding my manual windlass (Muir Hercules) and basically plan to just paint it but would like something suitable with some sustainability. Does anyone have a good suggestion?

I would start with a zinc chromate primer. As far as paints, the harder the better. A good linear poly-urethane like awlgrip or imron would be my choice.

It's made of aluminum.

Powdercoat

I rebuilt mine last year, got it powdercoated and am very happy with it. The powdercoating was only $30 or so an it's about as durable as that sort of finish can get.

I thought about the powercoating but there are 6 bushings that I'd have to remove for the bake procedure and I'm afraid of damaging them and not finding a replacement. This is a 20 year old windlass. I'm leaning toward xsboat's suggestion of the chromate primer followed with awlgrip or imron.
