Maxwell Windlass

Does anyone have any experience with the Maxwell Freedom 800? Defender has this on sale for $599 special purchase.
I have a Dufour 31.

I have the 500 on my 8000 lb J/28. Works as advertised. Double check the chain/line specs meet your needs, they are specific to the windlass. For example, I think the 500 requires 1/4 chain and 1/2 line. I would have preferred to upsize one size.

There is a maintenace item, a plastic pressure arm. Haven't replaced it yet, after 3 seasons. Other required maintance is straightforward, cleaning & greasing.

I just completed the installation of a new Freedom 800 on my boat, and was impressed with the setup. The instructions were clear and concise, and the equipment seems robust.

Thanks for the input. I am seriously considering the RC800. The defender boat show price cannot be beat, if there aren't any major problems with the design. Mainly I wanted to make sure there wasn't a jamming problem since it is an enclosed model.
