Adding tangs for running back stays

If I need to add tangs for running back stays how do I get a compression tube into the mast?

If you are using a 3/8" bolt, you would drill a 1/2" hole through the mast. Then make your 1/2" OD - /3/8" ID tube long enough to fit flush on each side of the mast. You just insert it with the bolt from either side.

I would recommend an aluminum compression tube. Also that you completely and generously coat the stainless bolt with Lanacote or equivalent.
