Simrad CA40 Radar 48 mile range

Looking at a boat with this radar which was installed around 2001 with a Simrad chartplotter. Would appreciate any input on this radar. I have heard that the chartplotter will not accept updated chips and that some install new chartplotters. A few specific questions.

1. Would a new chartplotter from Simrad function with the existing radar which is not broadband (have looked at the Simrad website which is not clear on this point.

2. I take it that if I need a digital radar that this will require a new antenna.

3. Any thoughts on a new Raymarine setup for a boat that will be used only for coastal cruising. Same for Garmin.

Thanks
