Aquameter

Ive got an Aquameter Gemini bulkhead mount compass that is in some disrepair. it has screws so can be taken apart, but the glass is fogged w/some scratches and it needs refilled. any suggestions on how to fix her up?

I am not sure about the fogging however you can refill it with kerosene or a alcohol/water mix. In the aviation business we call it a "whiskey" compass. The liquid is mostly used to dampen the oscillations.

I use a metal polish once a year on my compass. I was going to write it off when I bought the boat it was so bad, but 10 minutes was all it took to bring it back to a usable condition. As far as the fluid I would call the manufacturer for their recommendation. Though a good stash of whisky can always help you find your way.
