SSB hlep

My name is Lex Birney. I have an Able Apogee 50 that I keep up the Severn River in Annapolis, MD and sometimes at Port Annapolis Marina. I installed an Icom M802 but don't seem to have any luck transmitting. Receiving seems to be lacking as well.

It also feeds back into the stereo sometimes and seems to impact my laptop connection with my Selevel usb converter box.

Sounds like a bad ground as well as a bunch of stuff that I am not familiar with. Need help!

Thanks, Lex

If you followed the installation manual very carefully and used the proper cables, power supply, flat copper ground, GTO-15 and an isolated antenna, - it should work. Each step in the process of installation is very important. If it is too much then hire a professional to review and correct any problems.

A lot more information than what you have provided would be necessary to even begin troubleshooting your setup.

What tuner are you using? What antenna are you using? How is the antenna and tuner connected? What are you using for the ground plane? How is the ground plane connected? etc...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Are you still at Port A? I'm across Back Creek at Watergate. Send me a PM and I'll be pleased to come give you a hand. I've been a radio geek for over 30 years. I was one of the speakers for the SSB session at the recent SSCA GAM in Annapolis.

SSB help!

I is an ICOM M802. The boat is usually up the Severn River on Clements Creek but I can get it to PAM pretty much anytime. Should have it there for the winter in a couple of weeks. btw what's a PM?

I'll be around until 1 Dec. You can bring you boat down to Back Creek or I can drive up to Clements Creek - I'll need an address.

The 802 is a good radio. We should be able to get you well hooked up pretty easily.

For a PM, click on my username on this message and you should get a pop-up menu - click on "send a private message to SVAuspicious" and you should be able to send me a message.

In the meantime I'll send you my phone number the same way.
