Hints on Depth Finder

I am about to mount a Hummingbird Piranna 3 in a 23 ft Sailboat. I tested the transducer by submerging in water within the fore hull section (just forward of the keel) and received an excellent through hull reading. Is there any advantage to being through hull off the stern if all I want is depth and general slope of the bottom?

Hints on Depth Finder

One thing to consider - as you are entering a previously unknown anchorage for the first time - you probably will really want that depth finder forward of the keel...

Consider that in light of a future potential buyer''s survey results too.
