Volvo MD 11C alternator and regulator

The alternator on my Volvo MD 11C is not putting out a charge to the batteries (two type 31 AGM house bank and one type 31 deep cycle starter battery). I have had several recommendations to get a Balmar 70-80 alternator that fits on the 3/8 inch belt with an MC-612 external regulator. Are there any other good options?

I just looked into this for a customers Volvo 2003 and went with the Aquamax 100amp with their SMR-12 regulator. Excellent outfit, great products and less money than Balmar. They also have some good specials now. I went with this as it is the largest setup that will work with the standard 3/8 belt and single pulley on this Volvo. ALternator also has built in regulataor for back-up should the smart reg ie: the SMR-12 ever fails . Rick
