playing with my mast

Im going up the mast to cut a fouled jib halyard and run a new line. Anything else I should make sure to inspect while I'm up there? Except my drawers of course, I check those when I get back down.

thanks
Quinn

Check your masthead light and any other lights you might have. When you get up ther inspect all the sheaves. See if the vhf antenna is nice and tight. While you're on the way up check the spreaders.

Quinn, this was a pretty good thread on the subject.

Also, look at the shroud and stay terminals and tangs...and make sure they're in good shape.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Ditto what all the others have said. Make sure you listen to what Knotty has to say. He is the expert.

mitiempo will become famous soon enough
I agree with the others - basically inspect everything. I`d also take a digital camera up and take pics of the masthead etc. That gives you a good reference for the future and lets you look at details you might not see while up there. You might want to take a few pics of the view as well.
