I have a bubble in my compass!?!

I was told the compass works just fine with the bubble in there but I''m still going repair it.

I would live any advice on how to proceed.

Contact the manufacturer. Sometimes it''s cheaper to buy a new compass. Ritchie, in MA, rebuilt mine for $90 back in ''96, then the thing re-cracked from vibration within a year or two.

Hi
It depends why the bubble is there. I resealed mine and it has been good for a couple of years now. the fluid inside is usually mineral oil. baby oil will work too.

I seem to remember that there was an extremely long thread on this subject on the C&C E-mail list. Maybe you can find it through archives?

Well I took the thing apart and ended up having to buy 20 dollars in baby oil. I poured the oil in a bucket and put it back together under the oil to make sure and not get a bubble.

So far so good.
