Rats and a dinghy do an unmerry Christmas make :-(

So after scoring a great deal on a PVC dinghy last year (sat unused brand new in a box for 4 years with a new 5 hp merc engine) I did the stupid thing of letting it sit under a boat cover outdoors in a corner of my property for almost a year.

This was the result. Canal rats got me

The second picture is the problem. Big hole almost rectangular in shape (damn rats took geometry in rat school...grr) and is about 4 inches long! I think the only way to seal it would be from the inside...

I've never done dinghy repairs/patching...any advice from the group? I've already ordered 48 oz pvc fabric and some Clifton Urethane Adhesive...but what would ensure good repairs?

I've also heard about some people using truck inner tubes to repair dinks from the inside. Any blogs or websites showing how the repairs were performed?

Damn rats!!!
