Suzuki 9.9 1994 fuel line re-attachment

Greetings, The engine had been sitting for many years since I bought it because of a bad CDI. I built a CDI and the engine runs when I spray starting fluid in the carb so I took the carb off to clean it out. Now I can't figure out how to reconnect the fuel line to the carb because to access the hose one must have fingers 7 inches long and triple jointed. Is one suppose to remove the engine from the housing to do any work on it?

How about connecting the fuel line before mounting the carb?

The fuel line is too short to reach the un-mounted carb. I don't have a set of really long nose pliers but I did find a pair of slim tongs my wife had in the kitchen draw. She doesn't know I'm going to stick them in a greasy engine. I'm going to try it after dinner.

Get a longer piece of fuel line that will allow you to attach it to the carb first, and then to the pump (that should be where it's coming from.
Is there a filter in the fuel line before, or after the pump ?
Remove the fasteners from the pump to give you more room ?
It's a puzzle, you will figure it out.
Good Luck
