Autohelm 6000 compatiblity

I have an Autohelm 6000 that has stopped working; appears to be the course computer which I understand is no longer serviced by Raymarine. I just bought the boat, and don't know for sure, but presumably the linear drive unit is still servicable. Does anyone know if my drive will work witha new control head? thanks.

Your drive is compatable with other course computers. It is 12 volt , as are all the others, and simply reverses polarity to change directions. I have interchanged 4000 drives with 6000's and vice versa. The important thing is that the drive is rated for the tonnage of the vessel that it is steering.

You should have no problem using the drive if it is in good condition.

I am replacing my autohelm 6000 as soon as I get around to installing the new system that is laying in the forepeak. I'd be happy to sell you my system (or possibly give it, I don't think it can be worth much).

Autohelm 6000

I also have an Autohelm 6000 that has stopped working. The people at Ray Marine says it must be the course computer.
Does anyone have som spare parts?
