anchor windlass inside the locker??

I have a 1985 Pearson 303, with a shallow anchor locker. I recently saw an idea in SAIL magazine for building a large hinge so that a winch could be mounted inside the bottom of the locker and swung down out of the way so the locker can be closed. When needed, the winch is pivoted to upright position and locked in place.
Is it possible to manage a similar situation using an electric windlass?

1.I would NOT recommend installing an electric winch on a hinged mounting. The idea seems attractive, until you consider the loads that a winch (large enough to be effective) places on your structure. It''s hard enough, distributing the loads, in a deck mounted installation.
2. I''d question the need for a winch on a 305, unless you suffer some special physical limitations.
