Revere PFDs

Anyone got/used them? Any feedback on them? I'm looking for a couple of PFDs, one for me (probably with a harness for future use) and one for the Admiral. They seem to be a good price and now have Transport Canada approval so are legal to use here.

They look very similar to the Mustangs.. is there a price advantage? Didn't see any on their site.

Mustang is serious quality stuff...

Paul, I can't speak for the Reveres, but my mustang with integrated harness and advanced hydrostatic release is pretty comfortable, though maybe a bit heavy compared to the more basic, models. That said, I have never "needed" it.

Difference is around $40 or so. Seems the Mustang MD3054 might be the way to go, it's auto inflation and with a harness (not that I need one but I'd rather have it and not need it than the other way round), just need to find a good priced stockist in Canada.

Try Trotac on Dallas Rd. Not sure if they carry them but their prices are good.

I bought 2 three years ago, for my wife and I. After I got them I read that they should not be used by anyone under 5'5", my wife is 5'3".

Yes, you do have to be careful. The West Marine 4000 Series PFDs, now discontinued, were only safe to wear if you were 5'8" or taller...

The only ones I've found that seem to work well for people shorter than 5' 5" are the Spinlocks.

I've been looking at both the Mustang and Revere as well. You definitely should check out Marine.com (Sailnet's sister site). I've not been able to find cheaper prices for these anywhere else.

Yeah, I looked there smack, but I need Canadian approved versions, then shipping on top, plus taxes, import duty etc so it works out to be about the same, just more of a headache. If I were south of the border then it'd be a no-brainer.

Check with Waypoint Marine on Harbour Road in Sidney, right near Van Isle. I bought my Mustang MD 3154 there.
