How to drive a mast down the road - DIY

This is a link to a short article on how to drive a mast down the road. The idea is to get the mast up and over the tow vehicle so the complete load is not over the state limit.

The other trick is to get the back mount of the mast to slide in a track so the tow vehicle can turn separate from the trailer.

The link is
How to drive a mast down the road and how to lower a mast without a crane

That looks like an interesting way to do it. My uncle recently move the mast on his 48'er and used his local crew team's trailer which he said worked well since it had supports regularly spaced.

I have only had to move larger wooden spars over the road and we use an axle that we attach to one end while the other is attached into the bed of a pickup. Apparently the bolts holding the bed on to one guy's truck rusted through so he lost the whole rig. I wish I was there to see that one.
