Now that my boat is home I have accelerated the work on the electrical system and the nav station conversion. As I outlined in my previous post I wanted a nav station like the later H27's and I want to move the electrical panel up to a normal level, and not on the floor like it is now. Here is the hanging locker as it came from the factory...
Here is what I have done today, it is not finished, I still have to put the trim on, and install the other half of the table. It will hinge up into the port setee instead of into the quarterberth. I also have to build the electrical panel, that will be flush with the existing cabinets.
Taking it apart was easy, it's all screwed together with bronze screws. The plywood is very nice though, solid teak plywood not veneered, so I am building the new nav table out of the old locker.
I cut down the forward part 5" and removed most of the rear part so my legs will fit under...
And the new nav station halfway finished
I still haven't decided what I want to do underneath. Probably some small shelves along the hull, and maybe a deep pocket for charts.
