Deck screws stripped.

I have a Hunter 23 and was removing teak to refinish. Some of the holes in the deck are stripped. I remember somebody mentioning how to fix this by filling the holes and redrilling. Does this work? What can I use to fill the holes outside of west epoxy?

Thanks
Kris

System 3, MAS, Progressive Epoxy Polymers all make a decent epoxy that you could use. System 3 has some that come in a caulk-type tube that use a mixing nozzle and come pre-thickened.

You could also use MarineTex marine epoxy two-part putty.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Not sure if you can tap into cured epoxy, either with wood screws or machine screws. Most info I've seen about epoxies and fasteners has to do with embedding a nut or stud in the epoxy then fastening to that.
You could overdrill the existing hole and glue a dowel in place. Saw flush and screw into the new wood.

You can tap into thickened epoxy, just make sure your pilot hole is not too small or you will not be able to do it.

Maybe i'm mistaken, but couldn't you just use a screw that is just a little larger than the old screws? atleast that's what i do whenever i strip a screw
