Whisker Poles

Is there a rule of thumb for whisker pole length for a 150 Genoa? i.e. 95% of the foretriangle? I hate to buy an adjustable pole when it will be set to one length and left there.

If you intend to really use the whisker pole you will need it to be adjustable. You will need to adjust to the full 150% in light air which should be close to the lenght of the foot. You will also want to shorten it for reefed situations. The line drive variety is a real plus if your boat is over 25'' to 27''. If you intend to fly a symetrical chute then get a spinnaker pole but it will make a poor whisker pole.
