Simrad wheel pilot installation

The Simrad AP uses two band (hose) clamps to hold the pedestal mount to the pedestal. There is a rubber (or plastic) sleeve on each clamp, which needs to be removed to allow the clamps to be fitted through the slot in the pedestal mount. I can''t seem to get the sleeves off. I thought it was because of the cold weather, but I took them home to warm up and I still cant get them off. Any suggestions?

Never mind. I gave it more time to warm up, and I was able to work the sleeve off.
