Maintenance/Safety Checklist

Can anyone recommend a good maintenance and safety checklist for a 30' sailboat. Just a quick list to go over before heading out and what to look for as far as routine maintenance.

Buy a copy of Cruising World or some other Spring "fitting out" boat magazine. It will all be there.

A lot of this will depend on what 30' boat you have. Different boats have different gear and will require different checklists.

For example: A 30' boat with a centerboard and an outboard will have different safety and maintenance requirements than a 30' boat with a fin keel and in-board diesel.

Saying what boat you had would probably be helpful.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Ultimtely I think you'll have to build one. You boat class association may have some. Some references that I use:

A really old out of print one but still a very useful book of checklists: "Ready for Sea, Check your boat" by Basil Mosenthal and Dick Hewett.

Up to date but maybe too demanding is the US Edition of the “ISAF Special Regulations Governing Offshore and Oceanic Equipment and Preparation” including the US Sailing Prescriptions.
