Problems Replacing Line Organizers

Hello:

I recently had to replace the Rutgerson line organizers on my 2003 Bavaria 44.

When reinstalling the starboard kit I was able to screw-in the three outboard screws(out of four). The inboard screw has been impossible to reinstall.

It seems as if the thread had “Gone Away” or the nut moved out of position inside the fiberglass.

The anchor plate or nuts are not accessible from the inside when removing the cabin’s overhead liner for inspection.

Any suggestions on how to reattach that last screw?

It sounds like they used a tapped aluminum backing plate for the screws to go into. If that is the case, the threads in the plate could have easily stripped out. I would recommend you call Bavaria and ask them how the backing plates and nuts for the line organizers are actually setup before proceeding. They may have some good advice for you.

Fill with epoxy, drill and tap to get new threads.
