Starboard/Seaboard Alternative?
I need to fabricate some stuff for the cockpit area using 1/2" white sheet plastic. Want it to be UV resistant and pretty stiff; but also need to be able to glue it and use sealant.

What's the best material for this other than Starboard/Seabord etc -- which I understand do not take well to adhesives or sealants.

Links to recommendations would help.

When using starboard, you can seal around fasteners by countersinking around the pilot hole for the screw on the backside of the starboard piece before caulking. This will leave an o-ring of sealant around the fastener. If you need to seal around the edges, you can cut a groove inset from the edge on the back , all the way around , to accomplish the same.

The problem with starboard is that the sealants tend not to stick to it, so it always leaks.

I would recommend using 1/2 PVC board. It is pretty UV resistant, and epoxy and sealants both stick to it. The stuff I have is designed for the sign industry, and it is really pretty good stuff to work with, as you can work it with normal woodworking tools fairly easily.

PVC Board
SD - is the PVC board you're speaking of also called "PVC Foam Board"?
