How Many Yards of Fabric?

We're reupholstering all the interior cushions on our 1985 Catalina 36 with Sunbrella fabric. I was hoping to buy the fabric online BEFORE lugging all the cushions off the boat and over to the upholsterer - to minimize the amount of time we have a boat with nothing to sit on. But I'm not sure how many yards of fabric to buy -- has anyone done this for a Catalina 36, and could you share how many yards of fabric you used?

We'll be using Sunbrella canvas for the tops of the cushions, and using vinyl for the bottoms. So if anyone has a breakdown of both, it would be MUCH appreciated.

If not a Catalina 36, but a similar boat - I'd be happy to hear how much yardage it required as well.

Thanks!

Suggestion ...

It happens that there's a thread on the Catalina 36 International Association web site about this project ... you could probably get yardage from one of the 8 or 10 people who contributed to the thread.

Google is magic. ;-)

I actually found that thread already, and read it, but no one discusses yardage. And I can't post and ask the thread because you have to be a member of the association - which requires paying annual membership fees, etc - so unfortunately I actually can't get an answer there - but thanks for the suggestion!!

Dear J,

We just had new foam cushions and fabric covers made by a local upholsterer. Ordered sunbrella fabric from Sailrite and it was delivered in just a few days. I would highly recommend that you have your upholsterer tell you exactly how much fabric he or she needs. That way you won't have any problem with coming up short and possibly not matching dye lots, etc. if you need to order more fabric because of a miscalculations. Just a suggestion. New cushions are Great!
