How to remove butyl tape from a track?

Hi All...

I bedded my traveler track in butyl tape last season and now I am trying to clean it of. The track was made by Harkin and seems to be finished in something like teflon or something else very smooth.

Is there a solvent that will remove the butyl tape but not harm the track?

Thanks...

Mineral spirits should work. Acetone may damage the track finish.

Paint thinner, or mineral Spirits will work easily. Acetone, don't bother.

Thanks again everyone, the mineral spirits worked perfectly, removing all the butyl tape. Now, I can see where the part of the track that the ball bearings run over is covered in what has to be Cetol on one side. The PO loves Cetol, and was never very careful about where it got applied.

The mineral spirits didn't make a dent in the Cetol, any ideas about how to remove that and not remove the teflon?

Thanks...
