Swim decks for s/v''s

Has anyone tried putting a small swimdeck on the transom? You know, the small kind that would sit on one half of a 90 degree type of transom. It would be a semi-pseudo type sugar scoop style setup but I wonder if it would work better then a 4 step folding ladder. May main concern is heavy weather with following seas.
