Cs27 Rudder Removal

Hi all,

I need to take the rudder off my CS27 for repair and I was wondering if anybody has attempted to do this while the boat is in the water? The issue is that the lower gudgeon assembly is faired into the hull under the waterline...

Any thoughts?

I don't think it is possible while the boat is in the water. The lower attachment is a shoe that is fastened to the aft end of the skeg and notched into the rudder. The best place to ask would be here. CSOA : Owners or anyone interested in CS yachts
I haven't removed mine but that is my understanding.
