cruising chute

Has anyone used both an asym gennaker in and out of a snuffer AND a roller furling gennaker.
I have experience with using the sail out of the bag, and I am wondering if I might think about installing a roller furling gennaker that stays on when we are boating and stores in the sail locker when not is use just like that regular cruising chute.
Any Notes on particular brands is welcome as well.

Thanks for the link. I like it. (Note, I have no personal exprience, only what I saw in the video) If this product performs as advertised or as demonstrated in the video, I would think it would be a nice addition to our cruising sails. Looks to be much easier to use than a sock or snuffer.

I have a screacher on a Schaefer wire luff furling unit. Works quite well.

I have an asym that I fly off a sprit and a pole as appropriate. I added a snuffer a couple of years ago and find it to be more work than more classic spinnaker handling. YMMV. I haven't used a furler for a spinnaker.

I like the idea too. That is, assuming it's a conversion and I don't have to buy a new sail along with the furling gear!

I'm not sure I'd leave it there all the time while sailing, though, unless it was deployed off a sprit. I think if it's too close, there'd be a lot of air-flow interference with the genny when sailing hard on the wind.

It is a bit close in front of the luff of the front sail for up wind work. Not sure how much that would cut into your ability to get into the wind angle of attack wise, not sure it would sacrifice much boat speed either. Both things to consider in the research, along with $.

Seems that if it were rigged, it would be used more often with a pull of the continuous line.

Most of my sailing is day sailing in a river and depending on the wind direction we have a lot to do all the time or not. It seems that the gennakers stay below deck an awful lot of the time. So the potential convenience of such a tool might be cool.

I have an asym in a snuffer sock w/ ATN on our 36' C&C 110. Honestly, I think the whole snuffer thing is way over rated -I have never gotten it to work just right - I agree with what someone else said - it can be as much work as anything else. I have seen that furling spin idea before and thought it was the ultimate answer, at last. Buy one and let us know how you feel.

I have heard the Facnor single line furlers are great. I seriously consider adding a Selden sprit and a furler to use our asym. But with the added expense and the inability to pole it out a bit for deeper downwind work leaves holding back.
