jib sheet knot

Ive got a new jib sheet... one piece... any suggestions on the best knot to affix it? I was just gonna use a cow hitch, but it seems that that may put undue strain on the bend?

Cow hitch, a.k.a. lark's head, is pretty standard for this purpose. Inspect the hitch one in a while and shift the rope one foot in either direction if you're not happy with the strain.

This thread comes up every now and then. The general consensus is to use a cow hitch / lark's head / whatever you want to call it.

Typical. I read "cow hitch" and think "What kind of knot is that?", and then go look at it and think "Oh, it's that old thing."

Jargon can be so limiting at the same time as being so necessary...
