Here is a picture of a cracked NavTec rod terminal I recently discovered on my boat. It might encourage those of you who have got older or suspicious terminals (frozen or leaking rust) to open them or have them magnafluxed.
The screw thread is broken twice. If you look closely you might see one of the cracks in a 90° angle to the thread top down (red arrow).
Remarkable is that two tiny flashs in the head of the rod (they appear to be traces of the forging - blue arrow) which exactly match with the cracks apparently split the hollow core bolt like a chopper.
